說明：這是美國心理治療師蘇珊‧佛沃 (Susan Forward) 博士於 1997 年首度提出的詞彙與概念，意指在生活中不願意為自己負面情緒負責的人，企圖以威脅利誘控制他人的行為模式。
當有人利用恐懼 (Fear)、責任 (Obligation) 與罪惡感 (Guilt) 控制你時，那就表示你遭到情緒勒索了。因此，情緒勒索 (簡稱「情勒」) 的英文在專業領域裡亦稱 FOG，就是這三個英文字的頭字語 (acronym)。
