A：數目大多使用阿拉伯數字，亦即 4 或 40，而「百分比」可使用 % 或 percent。在科學或技術文件中，一般都使用 %。所以，1 percent 或 0.15% 都是常見的寫法，但 four percent 或 forty percent 的寫法也正確。
關於 percent，有幾個地方值得探討。這個字在英式英語都是寫成 per cent，但美式英語經常寫成 percent。此外，0.5% 這種百分數在口語中是唸作 “half of one per cent”，而不是唸作 “o point 5 per cent”；但對於 1% 的其他分數，無可避免地必須唸作 “point 7 per cent” 或 “point 7 of one percent”。至於「30 per cent (or percent) of + 名詞」這種片語，若名詞為集合名詞或不可數名詞，則其後接單數動詞，若名詞為普通複數名詞，則其後接複數動詞。例如：
- Fifteen per cent of the electorate has yet to make up its mind. (百分之十五的選民尚未拿定主意) － 許多人會將這句寫成 Fifteen per cent of the electorate have yet to make up their mind(s).，亦即個別看待每位選民，而不是把 electorate 視為集合名詞。
- Nearly 40 percent of the Taiwanese respondents were optimistic about the Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement (ECFA). (近百分之四十的台灣受測者對兩岸經濟合作架構協議感到樂觀)
