  • In the center of Taipei, a lot of people fell victim to pickpockets.
  • On Wednesday 2nd December, Jack broke up with his girlfriend. (12
  • On Wednesday 2nd December Jack broke up with his girlfriend.
  • When I was a kid, I would always swim in the sea.
  • After Jack had broken up with his girlfriend, he suffered from depression.
  • Here they disagree with us.
  • Yesterday Jack saw his ex-girlfriend having dinner with a man in a restaurant.

A penny saved is a penny earned

A penny saved is a penny earned

A penny saved is two pence clear.”。

Back the wrong horse, bet on the wrong horse

To back the wrong horse 和 bet on the wrong horse 為同義詞,意為「下錯了賭注;押錯了寶;看錯人;做了錯誤的決策或決定」。

Back 的動詞三態為 back, backed, backed,而 bet 的動詞三態都是 bet。

Interment vs. internment

Interment 意為「埋葬;葬禮」(burial),如 the interment of the corpse (埋葬屍體)。

Internment 導源於動詞 intern (= imprison):to intern enemy aliens/prisoners of war (拘留交戰敵國的僑民或戰俘)。
