Featuring / feat. / ft. / f.

1. Eminem – Love The Way You Lie ft. Rihanna

2. Pitbull – Rain Over Me ft. Marc Anthony

3. 50 Cent – My Life (Feat. Eminem, Adam Levine) (Official Video)

4. Justin Bieber – Beauty And A Beat ft. Nicki Minaj

上面第 1 支 MV 的歌名是《Love The Way You Lie》,由阿姆 (Eminem) 主唱,蕾哈娜 (Rihanna) 客串;第 2 支 MV 的歌名是《Rain Over Me》,由嘻哈鬥牛梗 (Pitbull) 主唱,馬克安東尼 (Marc Anthony) 客串;第 3 支 MV 的歌名是《My Life》,由五角 (50 Cent) 主唱,阿姆和亞當 (Adam Levine) 客串;第 4 支 MV 的歌名是《Beauty And A Beat》,由小賈斯汀 (Justin Bieber) 主唱,麻辣雞 (Nicki Minaj) 客串。

Our band mostly covers old Beatles classics. (我們樂團大多翻唱披頭四的經典老歌);They did a brilliant cover of the old songs of that famous singer. This footage is the behind the scenes/making of The Black Eyed Peas – I Gotta Feeling.

  • The number of phubbers has risen dramatically in recent years.
  • Phubbing is a growing modern social scourge.

Allow, permit (vv.)

譬如說,在 Schools do not _____ smoking.

Swimming is not allowed at this beach. (這個海灘禁止游泳);Walking on the grass is not allowed. (不准踐踏草地);His father allowed him to smoke.

The use of mobile phones is not permitted inside the aircraft. (航空器內禁止使用手機);The rules of the club do not permit smoking. (這個俱樂部規定不准吸煙);You are not permitted access to the confidential data.

Her parents won’t allow him to study abroad. (她的父母不會讓他出國唸書);The judge permitted the suspect to be released on bail. The nurse allowed Tony to remain in the hospital, though it was not permitted.

I allow my daughter five hundred dollars for books. (我給我女兒五百塊買書);We are only allowed a day off every year. (我們只准每年休一天假) / The company only allowed employees a day off every year. (這家公司只准員工每年休一天假 - 這措施顯然違法,不可能是公司的正式規定);We are not permitted access to the scene during the investigation. (調查期間我們不允許進入現場) / The authorities did not permit us access to the scene during the investigation.

英文:teach you a thing or two (v.)

說明:teach you a thing or two 後面往往接介系詞 about 來表示在某方面或就某事教你幾招。

例句:

  • Never done wrestling before? I can teach you a thing or two.
  • I can teach you a thing or two about Internet dating.

Accept, receive (vv.)

The students are here to accept the award. (學生來這裡領獎);Chris accepted my suggestion in principle. (克里斯原則上接受我的建議);His sister accepted the job without hesitation.

Have you received my email yet? (你收到我的電子郵件了嗎?);It is more blessed to give than to receive. (施比受更有福);She’s just received my birthday present.

I have received her invitation but I will not go. My students received me cordially.

  • Benjamin’s received an invitation from his students but he doesn’t want to accept it.
  • I received a gift from Michael, but did not accept it.

英文:get out of here (v.)

  • You said Mary was willing to marry you, get out of here.
  • You said you solved this difficult math problem on your own, get out of here.

英文:be all mouth and trousers; be all mouth and no trousers; be all mouth (v.)

  • They talked all night about how to solve the problems, but wouldn’t do anything to help. Their trouble was that they were all mouth and trousers.
  • We did not vote for him because he was known to be all mouth and no trousers.
