Flip one’s lid, flip one’s wig

這兩個片語中的名詞 lid 和 wig 鮮少用複數,但 flip their lids 和 flip their wigs 仍普遍被接受。 《牛津英語大辭典》(The Oxford English Dictionary, OED) 於 1952 年首次收錄 flip one’s wig。

例句:

  • I’m going to flip my lid if my girlfriend doesn’t show up.
  • Her father flipped his wig when he saw the phone bill.
  • Sam flipped out when he won the final.

slow time

cf. fast time。

  • Mary: The meeting is at 8am.
John: Is that slow time or fast time?
  • I am going to the club. I will be there at 9 o’clock slow time.

jammies

  • Time for bed, son. Put on your jammies.
